Meet the founder of Sol Healing and Wellness Center, LLC.:
Steve Milan, LCSW is a practicing psychotherapist as well as the founder of Sol Healing and Wellness Center. Steve has been pursuing the dream of developing a multidisciplinary healing center for 12 years, and that dream is coming together with Sol. His “starter marriage” of healing centers is now a building holding psychotherapists and a yoga studio in Central Austin. However, Steve was struck by the limitations of his own growth and his professional work due to a specific focus on mind health and development.
As a professional in the 1990s, he embraced Hakomi (a mindfulness-based,body-centered therapy) and Systems-centered therapy as his primary therapeutic modalities. But he also recognized the importance of diluting the artificial boundaries between the studies of body, mind and spirit. So he began a conversation with professionals across multiple disciplines, both conventional and more alternative, to promote a more holistic understanding of how we humans grow and develop. Sol Healing and Wellness Center is both a physical manifestation of that discussion, and a structure which seeks to continue and deepen that discussion by its presence.
Steve also identifies as a father, a partner, a recovering accountant (1st career), a recovering Catholic (1st religion), an inconsistent meditator, a Sufi/Buddhist/Contemplative Christian, a 30-year Ultimate Frisbee player, and a season ticket holding fan of the Austin Sol (no relation) the local professional Ultimate team.
